Release notes

Filter the register on desktop (Desktop)

The register now has a Filter button next to Reconcile. Narrow the list to cleared or uncleared transactions, to a date range, or to a single category. The button reads “Filter (2)” and turns bold while filters are applied, and each account remembers its own filters between sessions. The Cleared, Uncleared and Balance totals in the header always cover the whole account, filtered or not.

The register remembers your filters (iOS / Android)

Filters are now persistent. If you set an account’s register to show uncleared transactions only, it stays that way when you go back to your accounts and return, and after you close and reopen the app. Each account keeps its own filters. The filter button shows a dot whenever any filter is applied, and Clear All in the filter panel puts the register back to showing everything. Thanks, Don!

Duplicate no longer saves right away (iOS / Android)

Duplicating a transaction now opens a copy in the editor without saving it first. Nothing is added to your register until you tap Save, so backing out of the copy leaves your register untouched. The copy also keeps the original’s split lines and transfer details, which it used to drop. Thanks, Kit!

Duplicate a transaction on desktop (Desktop)

Right-click any transaction in the register and choose Duplicate to start a new one from a copy of it, dated today. The copy opens in the transaction window with the payee, amount, memo, category and any split lines already filled in, and nothing is saved until you click Save. Duplicating a transfer creates a new transfer, with both sides posted to the same two accounts.

Enter transfers from the transaction window (Desktop)

The New Transaction window’s payee list now includes your other accounts, the same way the register’s payee column does. Pick one to record a transfer and both sides are posted for you. Before, transfers could only be entered directly in the register.

Transaction menu fits on every screen (iOS / Android)

The menu you get by pressing and holding a transaction no longer runs off the bottom of the screen on shorter displays, where Delete could end up under the navigation bar and out of reach. The menu now scrolls if it needs to. The filter panel and the backup and template pickers got the same treatment. Thanks, Kit!

Pressing and holding a transaction on a wide screen now opens the menu next to the transaction you picked, instead of doing nothing at all. Thanks, Kit!

Folding your phone keeps your place (Android)

Closing or opening a foldable while you have an account open now keeps you in that account’s register. Before, folding the phone dropped you back on the account list.

Changes to Checkbook often come from user feedback. If you have ideas of your own or features you’d like to see, the portal at feedback.caffeinatedsoftworks.com is the best place to drop them.
