No. Caffeinated Checkbook never connects to your bank. You enter transactions manually, which gives you full control over your data and keeps your banking credentials private.
No. Caffeinated Checkbook works completely offline on your device with no account required. You only need an account if you want to sync data across devices or share with family members.
Caffeinated Checkbook is launching first on Android (phones and tablets), with iOS and iPad coming soon. Linux, macOS, and Windows are planned.
Yes. You can import transactions via CSV or QIF files that most banks let you download. This is a one-way import - we never connect to your bank directly.
Features
Yes. Create as many accounts as you need - checking, savings, cash, credit cards, or custom accounts. Each has its own register and running balance.
Set up a transaction to repeat daily, weekly, monthly, or on a custom schedule. Recurring transactions are auto-entered on their due date. You can review and adjust them at any time.
Yes. Mark transactions as cleared when they appear on your bank statement. The reconciliation view shows your cleared balance versus your bank’s balance so you can catch any discrepancies. You can also add missing transactions without leaving the reconciliation screen.
Caffeinated Checkbook includes six report types: Category Spending, Payee Summary, Tax Report, Cash Flow, Year-over-Year Comparison, and Account Summary. All reports support date range and account filters, and can be exported to CSV.
Yes. Over 50 default categories are pre-flagged as tax-relevant, mapped to IRS Schedule A classifications like medical expenses, charitable contributions, mortgage interest, and property tax. The Tax Report pulls all tax-relevant transactions into a single view.
Yes. Split transactions let you divide a single payment across multiple categories - for example, a grocery store trip that includes both food and household supplies.
Yes. When you select a payee, Caffeinated Checkbook auto-fills the amount, category, memo, and reference number from your most recent transaction with that payee. You can also save transaction templates for quick entry.
You can export any account’s register to CSV, and all reports support CSV export. You can also back up your entire database to a ZIP file and restore it on any device.
Caffeinated Checkbook supports biometric and PIN lock on app launch and resume. Your data lives on your device and is never shared with third parties. If you use sync, data is transmitted securely to your Caffeinated Account.
Billing & Account
Your financial data remains on your devices. You just won’t be able to sync new transactions across devices until you resubscribe. We never delete your data.
Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade at any time. When you upgrade, you’re credited for the unused portion of your current plan. When you downgrade, the change takes effect at your next billing date.
